Combined Entry

March 4, 2008

Another photos entry because i simply took too many photos during the past 2 weeks. Malacca trip, random shots with JM and my makeover photoshoot @ SMU’s Flaunt It Event.

First thing first, Gene Cell’s field trip was quite a letdown because its really academic. I understand that its a study trip, but before i went, i had thoughts of spending the entire night gambling or playing card games with my classmates or at least, chit chat or something. In the end, i went to bed before 12am becoz everyone slept at 11pm. Its PURE BORING. Its my most boring trip ever. The company wasnt that great…i really wonder whether almost every SMU student is so studious and dont enjoy life? Im sure not right. But somehow the trip seemed to be like that.

The only thing i enjoyed doing is last minute shopping before heading back home. Prof allowed us to stop over at this local production store which is supposedly the biggest in Malacca and i bought almost $70 of local products and snacks!! Its not all meant for me of cos, half for JM’s parents. Must buy stuffs for them to thank all the sumptuous dinners @ his house. Heh.

Not-so-nice lunch @ the plantation that we were visited.

bigjackfruit.jpg

HUGEEE Jackfruits!

cactuscollection.jpg

The plantation had one of the best collection of cactus in Asia. Over like 100 species of cactus.

fruit-tasting.jpg

Fruit-tasting session :) Love the starfruit. Anyways all the fruits here are grown in the plantation without any chemicals or pesticides.

aboriginaldance.jpg

They even arranged a “aboriginal dance” for us. Haha

leavesonleaves.jpg

“Leaves on leaves” plant. Weird name becos the tiny leaves actually grow on top of the big leaves, rather unique plant.

mosquitoplant.jpg

MY FAVORITE PLANT. ITS CALLED MOSQUITO PLANT. I love it cos it prevents mosquitoes, really regret not taking the seeds back home to grow.

Guess i was staring at some plants when Eunice snapped a shot of me!

Sat in the same buggy as prof.

snakegourd.jpg

Some gourd that looked like snake. So its called “Snake gourd.” I think its quite ugly. Haha, quite creepy too.

The slightly exaggerating stage.

Prof started the ball rolling by setting a good example.

bravesoulds.jpg

Brave souls who went on stage to sing. Dont ask me how well it was. :)

tables.jpg

Tables that looked like wedding dinner tables. The white one is VIP, rest is for us. Haha, dunno wads with the formality.

Gene Cell G2. My class :)

Anyways, MDS was the official sponsor for SMU’s Flaunt It roadshow organised by School of Information Systems(SIS). We sponsored 20 different designs of apparels which included vintage, glam and elegant themes to them for the makeover event. I personally went down to take a look at the event and its was quite professionally done, considering the fact that they are all student organizers! Good job. Im quite satisfied as their sponsor cos our clothes were nicely arranged on the racks with our tags on, huge advertising boards with our logo and they gave our name card to every person who signed up. On top of that, there’s MC who repeatedly mentioned the sponsor’s name for free publicity.

Initially i was supposed to take some photos to be published on the site, but then i ended up going for the makeover shoot. Cos its damn cheap! $15 for a 4R print + a soft copy of all photos taken. Free hairstyling and makeup plus outfits were provided. Of cos i wore my own brand apart from other major brands like Springfield, Promod, Celio & dressmaker Inc. Besides casual makeover, there’s also resume makeover for graduates-to-be. I think its really worth it considering the price.

  1. Hey, cool tips. Perhaps I’ll buy a bottle of beer to that person from that forum who told me to go to your blog :)
