One of the most happening Birthday Party! – Part 1
May 31, 2009
It has got to be JM’s Ah Ma annual birthday party!
I have never seen such a lively, noisy(for a good cause) and highly interesting birthday celebration for an Ah Ma aged over 70 years old! Im with him for more than 2 years, which means, i attended 3 of his Ah Ma’s birthday celebration and amazingly, every year is filled with fun and laughter! I guess thats his mum’s family culture, everyone is very friendly and neutral with each other, no gossiping nothing, just purely hanging out and having fun together.
Anyways, his whole family love to sing KTV so everytime during this year, they will organize the party in a ktv club and have the room by themselves.
The damn happening Ah Mas & 3 sistas!

Everyone must sing bday song for Ah Ma on her special day! (Evidence of me singing!)

Group Shot 1 (According to JM, this is just 1/3 of the family size who came!)

Have you seen the dirtiest car around?
May 29, 2009
This ultimate title definitely belongs to us. Without any doubt at all. Daddy always said me & Jm dont know how to take care of our car. We completely live up to his words. We did not wash our car for more than 3 weeks until the 2 of us find it so disgusting to even sit in it for a few minutes. The acid rain stain was so bad that it obstructed his vision, no joke man. We felt so good when we sent it for washing and vacuum at the petrol station. Can you believe that we have NEVER wash the car ourselves ever since we bought it almost 1 year ago? Its PURELY a means of transportation, like almost literally. We use it to transport goods and people, not much special feelings/likings towards the car.
And i think birds generally hate our car. They love to stain it with their droppings wherever our car is parked, as long as its an open carpark with no obstruction above. Not just bird droppings, even dried leaves also “patronize” our car quite frequently. And now, look at this…worst state:

ahhhhhh…WTF IS THIS?! Yes, no shine at all because its filled with dirt, dust and shit. My camera is not sharp enough to take all the minute stains on the car but people who sat on it these few days know exactly how dirty it is. HAHAHA.
GSS…30th May.
May 27, 2009
Whenever its GSS or any mega sale period, i will be the busiest.
Im literally dying from GSS preparation for online and physical retail. I desperately need a damn solid POS system! The amount of stocks i have to channel is seriously no joke.
MDS’s upcoming GSS promotion are really ATTRACTIVE! Our main aim is to reward loyal MDS shoppers during this special sale period.
We came up with so many different ideas to piece up the best deal for customers.
Shop sale will start on 30th May all the way to 30th June. Online sale will commence on 31st May to 30th June. Previews will be up on Friday(hopefully), if i can finish. And along with storewide 20-50% off online & shop, we are giving always many other privileges when you become a new member and when you spend $50 online. More details will be posted up on our homepage, hopefully by Saturday.
For now, save some moolahs for our shop sale on Sat! I will be there to help out my girls as usual!
On a personal note, GSS also means…less shopping for me. I hardly shop during sale, mainly because my size will be the first to run out so its pointless to waste my time searching high and low for something i like but “sizeless”. But luckily, im going on a vacation next week for 5 days, yippee!! Im counting down to my holiday trip with JM, Craig & Angelyn every single day cos i really need a short break to recharge. My last single off day was my birthday on 6th may? Which means im working almost everyday for 3 weeks. So these few days, there are alot of handovers to others in the office before we fly out of town for 5 days.
Anyways, dear friends, we have shifted to Duxton Road. Feel free to drop by and visit me or go for lunch/dinner during office hours and after(cos i’ll still be in for photo shoots). I know very well..as an owner, i shouldnt say this…but honestly, THANK GOD WEEKENDS ARE COMING!!!!!
A better week ahead.

It should be, and will be.

With a lovely place like this, the word, capacity, is running through my head now. How to make use of the capacity we have to build the biz on a greater height?
At 12.17am, on a sunday night, after 1 whole day of shifting and unpacking, im still thinking about work. So obsessed, such a workaholic.
Brave!.!

Horizontal strips is big taboo in my fashion world.
But i actually gave in to this horizontal stripe topshop tube dress which is extremely body-hugging. I bought it because of the contrast colors.

And I cant believe i wore this dress out for the whole day and made my stomach not filled up the way it should be.
I went to Wakaru on Sat evening with JM and they serve really good food! Not just that, but their cutlery was damn huge and significant too. Look at this bowl…its bigger than my big head and my bloated face:

Even JM’s big head also no fight.

The 3rd Little Pig
May 19, 2009
Referring to my entry on the book launch, i got hold of the photos from Ken today. Dropped by his office and realized that its so near to our new office at Duxton Rd and coincidentally, VibrantStyle, who was featured as one of the 8 entrpreneurs in the book is also located at Duxton Road. We are fellow neighbors now, all gathered at one hot spot!
Photos at the book launch:

Im not falling asleep, i was listening very very attentively.

Ken giving away his impromptu speech..nicely delivered

Ken & us
Anyways, as i looked at the few photos he sent, i realized the emotions of attending the book launch and opening our first store at Haji Lane were almost identical. Both were equally nerve-wrecking but different in the sense that, im nervous about the turnout on the 1st day of our store opening and for the book launch, im nervous about meeting many other entrepreneurs who achieved so much in their business journeys. Both were filled with anxiety, i remembered i was so excited to meet customers whom i never see before but heard of their names numerous times from my staff because they are so so regular and for the launch of the book, i was excited to see the BOOK that all of us anticipated for 1 year!
Actually, we are still discussing how we should market and promote this book to our customers by offering an exclusive price only on our website as compared to the major bookstores’ retail price at SGD 25.00. More details will be announced on our corporate blog, sometime next week, so stay tune. Our goal here is to let more people muster the courage to start your own business and really do what you like. Be inspired by the stories featured inside…hopefully, mds’ story can inspire more people to go all out for your passion, live your dreams and stay focus. This is what JM & me would really like to bring across through this book.
My 24th…gone in a flash!
May 15, 2009
I actually forgotten to blog about my 24th birthday which passed not too long ago. Its happened so fast or is it i just dont wish to face up to my real age?! Or maybe, im just too caught up with work that i dont have time to REALLY enjoy my birthday. I got a day off, at least. And i went to Toji for dinner because i have been craving for Korean food ever since im back! I actually bought myself Korea instant noodles to satisfy my craving for night suppers!
Thanks for the sweet surprise from UG!

Matt announcing that im officially 24 now.

Yes! Happy Birthday Princess >> ME!! Haha.

He cooked my fav pasta for lunch!

On my actual birthday!

Recently…i developed a liking for shophouses..especially those under conservation. Arent they lovely?

Super unglam…the wrapped vege was too huge for my mouth.

Mini gathering with my poly friends @ Coffee Club Orchard!

So all in all, its a simple birthday for me this year. No fancy parties, no wishlist, whatever. Just me & big 24. Dearest UG gave me a surprise bday cake at Meng’s house and they sang me birthday songs at 12 midnight. Thanks dearies!
My dad gave me a hongbao, like i said in my previous entry, JM got me a LV Palermo bag which i love to bits, Jillian & Sharon got me a Novita Scent Diffuser from Tangs which i also love to bits cos they know how much i love nice scents and finally, Vernice & Sydney got me a really nice cosmetics box from Takashimaya which i saw and liked but didnt buy. Thanks to all! And not forgetting all the birthday wishes i received.
Book Launch
May 14, 2009
Attended “The Third Little Pig” book launch with JM at SMU’s Screme today. The event was solely held by Talentpreneur Hub and book written by Ken Koh. It was a simple and cosy gathering for everyone, mainly entrepreneurs from different backgrounds and businesses.
Ken said he will pass me a copy of all the photos taken during the event so i will put them up when i receive it. But anyways, do grab a copy of this book in major bookstores, school libraries, etc. You will learn alot about entrepreneurial spirit from all the 8 stories and especially for those who wish to embark on a business but dunno how to, you can very well relate yourself to the book as well and perhaps, figure out a direction that you can start working on. For more details on the book, visit the website.
Of course, me & JM represent MDScollections as one of the 8 stories featured inside. If you wish to know more about our business journey, like how we overcome various obstacles, why we started this business, and what makes us different, you may also wish to pick up this book. I think all these innermost feelings and experiences that we shared with Ken in this book is not published anywhere on our website. What we present on mdscollections.com is always the best to customers, but what happens backend is definitely a journey full of hard work, consistency, sacrifices and passion. So if you want to know how me & JM work at MDS, how we make things happen, how we work as partners even though we are an item, and most importantly, recognise MDS as a proper B2C business with the capactiy and well-structured systems running backend to deliver and room to expand, then i think this book is a good representative of our visions & journey.
But then again, the interview with Ken & Daniel at our old premise was done almost 1 year ago and throughout this period, alot of things happened. Fortunately, i think its more of good than bad for all of us at MDS. This coming 25th June, we are shifting to our new nest at Tanjong Pagar, Duxton Road. Hopefully, with a brand new, bigger and more comfortable environment, everyone can produce more and give more to customers.
He gave me this yesterday!

I didnt know i can do so many different expressions. Please ignore my cartoon facial expression( NOT photoshop) in some shots. I was making faces according to the photographer’s request. Actually my folder has many more! But guess he doesnt wanna put all up, otherwise the wallpaper will be huge!
Another revamp
May 10, 2009
I have been working very hard 7 days straight with JM at the office till 10pm every night. Im living like a life zombie already.
But finally, the new website template is out, the korean line is out, Nira’s advert and shoot is completed, 3 more shoots done, new products shots finished and here you go.

The designs imported from Korea is one of my proudest batch of merchandise so far. The quality of these in-house labels is not inferior than those established brands you see in boutiques, in fact, being a hard-core topshop/selfridge/warehouse shopper, i feel some clothes from Korea are actually much better in quality. You really have to feel it yourself to be convinced. The cut and design is exceptionally suitable for Asian ladies, of course the price is higher than designs imported from other countries.
Recently, i noticed alot of Korean shops popping up in Far East, so i guess there are some people who prefers superb quality clothes like me. Wearing it again and again(even though i always limit myself to wearing sth <3 times) but still excellent quality. Im totally bought over by Korean line. How about shopping for korean clothes at half the usual retail price? I remembered paying almost $500 for 2 korean dresses at $149 each, 2 tops at $89 each and 1 bag at $120. I burnt a big hole in my pocket walking out of that korean shop at far east. I still remembered though its so expensive, i felt so satisfied buying all these “love at first sight” designs! All for the joy of shopping lah!
